Sign Code

The Sign Code counter is open for plan review and submittal from 8:00 AM till Noon,  Monday through Friday.  Please sign in when you arrive and let us know if you are applying for a banner permit. To ensure adequate review time, please sign in by 11:45 AM.

The Sign Code Section reviews and issues permits for signs of all types including wall signs,
freestanding signs, A-frame signs, banners, billboards and conducts inspections for sign permits. 

The Sign Code Section also provides staff  support for the Sign Code Advisory and Appeals Board (SCAAB) and the Citizen  Sign Code Committee (CSCC).  The SCAAB  holds public hearings and makes decisions on applications for variances from the provisions of the Sign Code and also hears appeals from determinations of the  Sign Code Administrator in the application and enforcement of the Sign  Code.  The CSCC holds public meetings and hearings to review and make recommendations to the Mayor and Council regarding  amendments to the Sign Code.

Grade Level Determination Letter Request - To request written determination of grade level from which the height of a sign may be measured when the elevation of a finished surface within the 20 foot radius of the base of the sign is near a retention basin or similar circumstance

 Sign Code Compliance Letter Request - To request written information on current or proposed sign allowances for residential, commercial or industrial development, including: applicable code district, allowed square footage ratio, types, amount permitted, installation criteria, and/or development restrictions.

Property Research  Online (PRO)  PRO is a tool for  locating property information. You can find the parcel data by searching for an address or Assessor Parcel Number. If you do not have this information, you can  visually search for the property on a map.

Violations of the Sign Code are administered by the Community Services Department.
