Rate Changes for Interest on Delinquent Taxes and Tax Returns
On October 1, 2005, House Bill 2055 went into effect. This bill effects the interest rate that is used to compute interest on delinquent taxes and tax refund requests. On October 1, 2005, the City of Tucson began using the same interest rate as the Arizona Department of Revenue. The interest rate is set every quarter and goes into effect on October 1st, January 1st, April 1st, and July 1st. To check the interest rate, please go to the ADOR Web Site at http://www.azdor.gov/ResearchStats/rates/

Changes to Tax Code Relating to Transient Rental (Hotel/Motel) Tax
Effective January 1, 2007, the City of Tucson
adopted code changes that affect transient rental
businesses and businesses who provide services
through hotels. These changes make Tucson’s code
similar to the State of Arizona’s code and other
Arizona cities’ tax codes. Tucson’s interpretation of
the code (where state and city codes are similar) will
be following the Arizona Transaction Privilege Tax
Ruling TPR 06-1 and the accompanying matrix.
Documents pertaining to the changes are below:
