PARegion Discussion - Ron Platt

Steve Whitney explained how PAREGION is created and how it is maintained. Steve also discussed the rubber sheeting process. Steve pointed out that there is a perception that PAREGION is continually being moved. As we found out at the last meeting this is not true. PAREGION has been shifted once for the 1998 ortho area. What may be seen as continual movement is due to the regular editing that goes on to change individual parcels where errors are discovered or other updates are made. Steve assured us that this process has always existed. He noted that it has been more prevalent since the rubber sheeting, but edits have always been made on a regular basis to PAREGION.

Regarding some method by which Steve could assist PAREGION dependant layer "maintainers" find out when a parcel is modified, he said he would look into a couple methods by which we may get a "red flag" report of sorts on some regualr basis, or when changes are made. He will report back to us on that next month.

City Limits Verification

Chris Kelleher reported that his work to verify the City limits layer (lim_tuc) may be completed within a month. He noted that the entrance to TIA was particularly challenging.

Mentor Program

Meeting participants were offered a chance to sign up as a mentor to City employees using their areas of GIS expertise. I am not sure where we go from here, but we can discuss this at the next meeting. Also, for anyone who did not come to the meeting - please email me your willingness to serve as a mentor, along with your areas of expertise. Until we do decide how to utilize this list, please use it as reference to find the expertise you may need for your project.
