3. Surprise Announcement – Larry

    - Christine O’Connor, Deputy Director of the COT IT department, is retiring from the City of Tucson after July 31st. As some of you may know, Christine has always been a strong advocate for the GIS Cooperative, gently nudging us towards becoming a more mature organization. She has provided us with generous amounts of encouragement and support in our organizational objectives. Her counsel and guidance will be sorely missed, as of course, will her presence. She will still be involved in work with TPD/TFD, so you may see her around! Christine, from all of us in the Tucson GIS Area Cooperative, we wish you the best of luck and a very happy retirement!

    - On a lighter note, I’d like to welcome Gage Andrews, who will be taking over

Christine’s role temporarily, until a permanent replacement is found. Please join me in

welcoming Gage to the GIS Cooperative!

4. Improvements to the Parcel Layer (paregion) – Steve Whitney

    - To find out which TRS’ have been processed, please contact Steve Whitney

    - PCDOT changing from ArcCAD to AutoCAD, as ArcCAD didn’t support double precision

    - They are using AutoCAD 2006, which supports geodatabase editing

    - This process is not a spatially-based adjustment

5. Open Floor

    - Laura Pinnas from TEP suggested the idea of having a CAD portal that would contain CAD files for Public Improvement (PI) projects

    - Manny Rosas from PAG discussed the Regional Image Analysis/ER Mapper meeting on the 21st of June.

      - PAG is two or three days from signing the contract with ER Mapper

      - PAG will solicit new members for ER Mapper next year

      - PAG will check again on extending the ER Mapper contract to non-PAG members

      - PAG is conducting a cost/benefit study on the orthoimagery project

      - Manny mentioned they are working with TUSD on a “School Search” project w/TUSD. This project encompasses using ArcIMS to deliver data on such topics as where children will be attending school, how good certain schools are in their academic delivery, etc. He is working with Bryant Nodine – Principal Planner with TUSD on this project.

      - Manny suggested doing a participant debriefing on the results and implications of the ESRI User Conference in August 7-11. Next year’s conference may end up taking place in June – within the same fiscal year!

6. Final farewell – Larry

      - It is with fond memories that I say thank you to all GIS Cooperative members for

allowing me to participate in your professional lives as GIS Cooperative chair. It has

been an honor and a privilege serving you and the GIS community at large. The best of

luck in each of your respective positions and I’ll see you at the next GIS Cooperative

      meeting – as a participant!

      THANK YOU!!!
