24th ANNUAL HARAMBEE FESTIVAL CELEBRATES UNITY FEB. 9
The Tucson Parks and Recreation Department’s Northwest Center hosts the 24th Annual Harambee Festival Saturday, Feb. 9 from noon-7 p.m. at Mansfield Park, 2160 N. Sixth Ave.
“Our festival is a call to unity throughout the community and represents a coming together in celebration of Black History Month,” says Donna Liggins, center supervisor.
Harambee, pronounced ha-RAM-bay, is Swahili for “coming together.”
The free event includes ethnic entertainment, sweet potato pie contest, jumping castles for children and 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
Information on community resources and food vendors will also be featured.
For more information, call the Northwest Center at 791-3247 or 3249. |
