KIDCO KARES FAIR AT PURPLE HEART PARK APRIL 18
Tucson Parks and Recreation's East District will host a KIDCO KARES Fair at Purple Heart Park, 10050 E. Rita Rd., Wednesday, April 18 from 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Approximately 200 KIDCO participants from Desert Willow, Cottonwood and Mesquite Elementary Schools will participate in a community service project focusing on giving back to the community and honoring our citizens in uniform.
Youth, ages 5-12, will honor veterans and active duty military with special banners, adopt three platoons and send KIDCO KARES packages overseas. They will also dedicate a park bench and plant a tree.
Pati Giffney, recreation specialist at the Northwest Center, will perform the National Anthem. Military members will serve as Color Guard and have equipment on display.
KIDCO KARES, started in 2005 by the East District KIDCO unit, has earned a State of Arizona Governor's Special Recognition award for community service programs.
KIDCO is a popular Monday-Friday after-school and summer recreation program for ages 5-12 offered at approximately 30 recreation center and school sites. There is a nonrefundable registration fee for the program.
