PARKS AND RECREATION HOSTS FREE PUNT, PASS & KICK EVENTS

Tucson Parks and Recreation invites boys and girls, ages 8-15, to take the field at one of two scheduled NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick events over the next few weeks.

The Clements Center will host an event at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at Lincoln Park Softball Field #2, 4325 S. Pantano. Contact 791-5787 for details.

The Northwest Center has scheduled its event for 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Mansfield Park, 2000 N. 4^th Ave. Contact 791-3247 for details.

Girls and boys in four separate age divisions (8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15) compete against each other in punting, passing and place kicking. Scores will be based on distance and accuracy. Age classification is as of Dec. 31 of the current year.

Entry forms/waivers must be filled out by a parent or guardian and are available in advance on-line at www.nflyouthfootball.com. Proof of age is required, and birth certificates or state issued ID are acceptable.

All participants will receive an NFL Certificate of Excellence, and ribbons will be awarded for the top three finishers. Winners will advance to sectional competition.

Established in 1961, the PP&K program is the oldest NFL Youth Football program.
