All of Tucson Clean & Beautiful's environmental projects are community-based, volunteer-driven programs; we are always in need of volunteers to assist at projects throughout the community, as well as occasionally in our office. Some of our upcoming volunteer opportunities are listed at the Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona. If you would like to volunteer, please call us at 791-3109, or send us an email at tcb@tucsonaz.gov and we will let you know of all of the upcoming events where we may need assistance. Volunteers of all ages are welcomed; we do ask that volunteers younger than 18 years old participate with an adult-supervised community group.
Litter Cleanup Project: Help keep Tucson Clean and Beautiful by picking up littered trash from parks, streets, neighborhoods, alleys, washes, and other public areas. Any school/college group, civic organization/club, environmental group, neighborhood association or community organization is welcome to participate. Tucson Clean & Beautiful can assist in setting up one-time cleanup projects with your group, as well as projects with a long-term commitment through our Adopt-a-Park program.
The Tucson Clean & Beautiful Trees for Tucson program provides another excellent opportunity for youth-oriented as well as many other types of community groups to volunteer on a one-time or ongoing basis.
"Mount Lemmon Tree Tour": Each summer you can escape the heat by joining Trees for Tucson on a cool trip up to Mt. Lemmon to see and learn about a number of fascinating trees that grow in these moist, high elevation forests. We will see about 30 different types of trees including Corkbark Fir, Scouler Willow, Quaking Aspen and Rocky Mountain Maple. Cost is $50.00 per person. For more information, call 791-3109.
"Great Trees of the Old Pueblo" Tree Tour: Each year, the annual Tucson tree tour visits a number of large and unusual trees in the Tucson area. Participants are treated to a luncheon at the end of the tour. Proceeds from the tour help fund our tree replacement bank. For more information, call 791-3109.
Landscape Design and Planting Seminars: Contact the Tucson Botanical Gardens at 326-9686 for information on their various seminars.
Compost Bin Sales: The City of Tucson held its most recent compost bin sale on Saturday October 27, 2007. Additional bins may be available through Tucson Organic Gardeners. Call 670-9158 for details on when and where compost bins are being sold.
